Jim Avitabile has more than 25 years of experience in the engineering design and construction fields, and has been with C3 since 1990. As a C3 principal, Jim oversees and manages the company’s mechanical, electrical, plumbing, life safety, and information technologies design engineering divisions and has spearheaded its growth from two original members to approximately 40 full-time engineers, designers and supporting staff in the firms MEP design group. This team has designed and managed the installations for more than 75 million square feet of commercial, institutional, manufacturing, and biotechnology space.
Prior to joining C3, Jim provided consulting engineering services to the facility departments of Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Wellesley College, where he specialized in developing and implementing energy conservation measures resulting in the savings of hundreds of thousands of dollars for these institutions. Jim holds an associate’s degree in mechanical power engineering and a BS in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Wentworth Institute of Technology. He is a member of ASHRAE and ASPE.
Jim takes great pride in his family, which takes up all his spare time outside of the office. He and his wife Cheryl have been together since 1982 and have three exceptional daughters, Shawna, Ashley and Amy. Jim was active in town sports and is proud that his girls all agree that he was the “worst” coach they ever had. His coaching couldn’t have been that bad as his two younger daughters play for their Division I college soccer team at UNH.
