Serving Clients / Architects
We work very well with architects on a variety of levels – indeed some of us at C3 are architects ourselves. We are often part of a design team, invited by architects to serve the MEP Engineering and Commissioning, Code Consulting or other role. We are also brought in as Building Envelope consultants to assure a practical and water tight design or to fix problems that others cannot.
A Green Expertise
We are also often brought in as consultants on Sustainability and LEED issues.
C3 has been involved in numerous LEED projects across the entire USGBC matrix – NC-New Construction; CI-Commercial Interiors; and CS-Core and Shell, and others. For existing buildings – LEED EB – C3 has developed a proprietary three-phase process. See some relevant Case Studies of these projects and their outcomes. The first phase is a cursory review of where the building stands in regards to LEED before any modifications are made. Budget costs are assigned to each point and opinions are rendered as to the feasibility of each. Phase 2 involves carrying out the detailed calculations, technical review and project submission. Phase 3 encompasses any long-term services such as Commissioning.
Balancing the Technical and the Visual
We appreciate and understand the aesthetic bent of architects. In the Building Envelope role we are adept at the necessary collaboration between architect and engineer – we marry the technical side to artistic and visual considerations.
