Robert E. Dyson, PE, CEM
Technical Project Manager
Bob has been a member of the C3 staff since 2004 and brings an extensive background in the energy and utility business as well as complex plant operations. His experience in energy engineering and facility operations have contributed to successful energy reductions and operational improvements for a number of our clients, such as the Hancock Tower and Hebrew Senior Life‘s NewBridge on the Charles development. With the emphasis on Green Buildings, as well as the growing awareness among clients of the value of having new or renovated facilities commissioned, Bob has developed commissioning procedures and performed the functional testing for a number of projects. One of those projects was just awarded LEED Gold, and another LEED Silver. He has worked with a number of our clients to obtain the US Department of Energy’s EnergyStar rating for their properties.
Bob has been fascinated by energy and power systems since he first operated steam turbine propulsion systems in the Navy. After earning a BS in Mechanical Engineering at MIT, he worked in the paper, pharmaceutical, and power generation industries. He has managed power generation projects ranging from a large 1,760 megawatt combined cycle plant to a small 50 kilowatt steam turbine plant. As the Engineering VP for the steam utility in Boston, Bob led a team of utility managers that oversaw the relocation of the utility pipes and cables prior to the Big Dig.
After many years of coaching youth soccer and basketball, Bob spent several years raising the funds, obtaining the property, and lastly constructing a youth soccer complex in Walpole, MA. To keep in shape, Bob spends time riding his bicycle, and completing at least one century (a 100-mile) ride each year. Lately though, his fascination with two-wheeled transportation took a different turn with his purchase of a shiny Triumph Bonneville motorcycle.
