President and CEO
Jim has 30 years of experience in the A/E/C and real estate industries, having begun his career in the utilities business, focused on the design and construction of large power plants.
He held the position of Director of Engineering at Boston’s Prudential Center and Regional Director of Construction for Dallas-based Lincoln Property Company before founding C3 in 1989. He is a licensed engineer and a LEED AP, and has lectured at many schools and in front of numerous professional groups. His unique blend of an engineering education and post-graduate studies in development and construction law provide a solid base for integrating the technical and business aspects of the real estate business. Likewise, the real world experience in facilities management, design, and complex construction projects allows Jim to understand the vision and needs of our clients from the client’s mindset.
As President and CEO of the company, Jim is very involved with client service and is hands on with Due Diligence and Project Management services, serving as the quarterback for many assignments. In founding C3, his goal was to create a firm with a top-flight technical staff that has common sense and a collaborative spirit. Over the 20-plus years, the firm has grown in controlled steps with many long-term employees joining along the way. Another key goal was to provide technical expertise in all the areas relating to the built environment. This has expanded the firm’s services from Project Management, MEP Engineering, and Due Diligence to include Building Envelope Consulting, Code Consulting, Capital Planning, LEED and Sustainability Consulting, Commissioning, Development Advisory Services, Complete Plan Peer Reviews, and Energy Purchasing Consulting services. C3 is positioned to provide a complete range of technical services to its clients, all supplied in-house by experienced staff that have developed close and long term relationships with our clients. These include Owners and Investors, property, facilities and asset mangers, brokers, lawyers, and architects, all of whom appreciate the prompt professional and practical approach to solving their problems and addressing their needs.
Jim has a passion for supporting those in need. C³ and its staff are active supporters of organizations giving aid to families, and especially to children. These include an employee Toys for Tots drive, New England Home for Little Wanderers volunteers, The Red Sox and Jimmy Fund Foundations, Project Bread, Muscular Dystrophy, Make A Wish, and The Neely House. Jim is also directly involved with many charitable groups and is presently the Vice Chairman of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Boston’s Board of Directors, a role which is both challenging and rewarding in providing housing for families. He is also involved in civic and church groups in his hometown of Wrentham and Chairs the Lakes Advisory Committee, which promotes protection of the natural water resources. Jim is an avid skier in winter and fisherman in summer and is often found leaving the house in the darkness of the early morning hours to pursue these passions. He has been active in youth sports as a hockey and baseball coach for many years when his children were young and now enjoys watching from the stands at Fenway or the Boston Garden, forever telling Bobby Orr stories.
